Hottest Day Yet for Sunday

SUNDAY: Morning clouds clear, Mostly Sunny, Windy and Warm, High around 90, winds S 15-25

MONDAY: Afternoon Storms, Some Severe, Partly Sunny, Highs in the mid-80's.

TUESDAY: Rain/Storms, mostly first half of the day. High in the mid-70's.

Today highs reached into the low 80's across the metro, a few degrees lower than forecast thanks to the stubborn morning clouds that were so slow to dissipate. A lovely Spring evening is in progress across north Texas.

We expect another mild night with lows in the mid-60's again. We also expect some fog and low clouds again to start Sunday, a sign of high dewpoints and lots of moisture in the first 1000ft of the atmosphere.

As the sun comes out the winds will pick up tomorrow mid-day, expect a south wind at around 20-25 mph by afternoon. This is going to help pick the temperatures up to the upper 80's around Dallas and around 90 degrees in Fort Worth. This would be the hottest day of the year so far, surpassing the high just LAST Sunday of 86 degrees.  I would not surprised to see (feel actually if you were out that way) some upper 90's out to our west around Abilene where the air is drier.

RAIN CHANCES START BACK MONDAY

There is a dryline out to our west that is going to get some help from a slow-moving upper level low. This should get some strong storms going by afternoon tomorrow, large hail and damaging winds are possible with these storms. They'll start to the west of the metro area but then move into the metroplex by end of day or evening. The chance for storms tomorrow night is around 50%. Expect some localized heavy rain with these storms as well with such high moisture content in the lower part of the atmosphere. Highs on Monday will get into the 80's.

TUESDAY RAIN CHANCES AS WELL

There is a chance a surface low could be right over the metro area on Tuesday morning. This would make for a wet morning commute on Tuesday with a chance for some thunderstorms lasting into the afternoon. A cold front comes through around mid-afternoon that will help focus the rain chances and kick up a few storms as well. Highs on Tuesday will likely only get into the mid-70's.  Below you can see at least one model solution showing a decent rain in store for us Tuesday morning:

COOLER MID-WEEK

I expect dry weather on Wednesday thru Friday. Highs on Wednesday and Thursday will stay in the 70's. We should be back into the 80's by Friday and for next weekend. Right now it looks like there'll be some rain around next Saturday and Sunday, we'll wait to we get a little closer to our first April weekend before putting in chances.
