AUSTIN (KRLD) — A piece of Texas history will be on the auction block this weekend. On Sunday, Jan. 10, the Austin Auction Gallery will auction off the State Seal gates and fences from the Governor's Mansion that date back to the late 1800s.

The gates were designed in 1888 by William Munro Johnson for the Capitol Grounds. It's believed they were moved in the mid-20th century to the Governor's Mansion, where they stayed until the 2008 fire.

Ross Featherston, president of the Austin Auction Gallery, said the gates and fencing will be auctioned off in four different lots. "It has the State Seal of Texas on it. … Since it's iron it could be modified easily to fit in a driveway."

The price of the State Seal gates will start at $35,000.
