Here's the Timing of the Rain for the Weekend
If you have some outdoor plans tomorrow, take along the rain gear. The highest chance of rain will be late in the afternoon into the evening hours, but there will be a few spotty showers even in the morning.
An upper level low will track right over North Texas tomorrow and initiate the showers and thunderstorms. A few stronger thunderstorms will be possible, and I can't rule out an isolated severe storm with hail the main concern. But I don't expect a lot of severe weather at this time.
RAIN TIMING
Below is our CBS 11 HIGH RESOLUTION FORECAST MODEL. It shows where the rain will be located at different time points over the weekend.
As you can see the best rain chances will be late afternoon into the evening on Saturday. Rain will then linger Saturday night and shift east early Sunday morning. The timeframe where we could see the strongest storms is between 3pm and 9pm Saturday. Most areas will see .25" to .75" of rain, but a few areas in the heavier thunderstorms could see more.
Here is another way to look at rain chances for DFW on Saturday. Rain chances going up during the day.
COLD FRONT NEXT WEEK
A strong cold front and upper level system look to impact North Texas around midweek. The timing of the front is a little uncertain. It could arrive on either Wednesday or Thursday. The timing will obviously impact Halloween. If the cold front arrives on Wednesday there will be the chance of strong to severe storms on Wednesday and then it will turn drier and cool for Thursday.
If the front arrives on Thursday, strong to severe storms will be possibly on Halloween with the chance of it drying out in time for evening trick-or-treating, but it would be close.
Stay tuned to CBS 11 for the latest updates and as always, thanks for watching!
