Heat Takes Toll On North Texas Roads

The Texas Department of Transportation is on the lookout for road buckling because of the long stretch of temperatures over 100 degrees. On Tuesday, crews had to shut down part of 377 near I-20 in Southwest Fort Worth because the road buckled in the heat.  Each buckling incident can disrupt traffic for hours and can take between $2,000 to $5,000 out of TxDot's maintenance budget. With no end to the heat wave in sight, the summer could get expensive for the state agency.
