Extreme Heat Causing More Stalled Cars
DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) - The heat is increasing the number of stalled cars that backup traffic.
Old batteries and overheating are just a couple of the problems that have increased the number of calls for help to the Dallas County Courtesy patrol lately.
Supervisor Guy Chamberlain with the Dallas County Sheriff's Office says the biggest issue keeping them busy is the combination of hot pavement and bad tires.
"They probably overfilled the tire to begin with and as they're going down the road it builds the pressure back up and it gets too much pressure and slings the tread off of it," Chamberlain said.

Chamberlain says they get to every call, but this time of year it does take a little longer to get to everyone. That's why he recommends you keep some water in the car because you never know when you might end up stranded.
You can find the courtesy patrol number on the back of your driver's license. The number is (800) 525-5555.
