NORTH TEXAS (CBSDFW.COM) - A popular Texas grocery chain is expanding to North Texas.
San Antonio based HEB Grocery Company LP has announced plans to open several stores around the Metroplex in the coming years.
H-E-B operates more than 300 stores in over 150 communities across Texas according to the company website. They also operate the upscale Central Market grocery stores.
A release from the company says that it will be taking over space from several Sun Fresh stores, that will be closing soon.
"We are currently evaluating the feasibility of each site to determine the most effective use of the properties. At this time, Central Market continues to be the primary format for the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex." said Todd Piland, H-E-B Executive Vice President Real Estate, Facility Alliance & Petroleum Marketing.
The proposed new stores will be located at:
- Dallas, TX – McKinney Avenue and Lemmon Avenue
- Dallas, TX – Northwest Highway and Midway Road
- Dallas, TX – Northwest Highway and Ferndale Road
- Dallas, TX – Mockingbird Lane and Abrams Road
- McKinney, TX – Hardin Boulevard and El Dorado Parkway
- Grapevine, TX – State Highway 121 and Hall Johnson Road
It is not known which stores could become H-E-B markets or Central Market stores.
Based on 2014 revenues, H-E-B is the twentieth largest retailer in the United States.
