GOP Seeks To Keep Grip On Texas Offices
DALLAS (AP) - Lt. Gov. David Dewhurst and other Republican incumbents are seeking to keep their party's grip on statewide offices as Texas voters head to the polls.
The race between Dewhurst and Linda Chavez-Thompson is at the top of a series of downballot races Tuesday that promised few deviations from the state's Republican norm. Dewhurst has held the job since 2002. Chavez-Thompson is a labor leader and vice chairwoman of the Democratic National Committee.
Republican Attorney General Greg Abbott is going after a third term against former U.S. Senate candidate Barbara Ann Radnofsky. Abbott touted lawsuits he has filed against the federal government. Radnofsky said the suits are politically motivated.
