Going Doggie Digitial! New Cable Network Strictly For Pups
NORTH TEXAS (CBSDFW.COM) - It seems that even television is going to the dogs!
Instead of chasing their tails, running and jumping your dog could soon just kick back and tune in to network just for them.
Next month, Direct TV is launching the Dog TV Network.
Saying that it is "scientifically developed and pup approved, Direct TV subscribers can pay for the channel that offers a continuous loop of three- to six-minute videos for dogs.
Offering will range from stimulating content of dogs running and playing outdoors, to relaxing landscapes.
The channel will also offer what they call "exposure" programming; showing pictures and and relaying sounds of things that normally frighten dogs -- like thunder and fireworks. A Dog TV executive claims that exposure to those sights and sounds will make dogs more accustomed to them and less afraid.
So, what's the charge for this digital dog sitter? A subscription to the DogTV network will run you $4.99 a month. The service, that claims to help prevent doggie mental fatigue, depression and boredom, launches on August 1.
