Getting Hot...Then Getting Stormy

The trend is going up in regards to temperature. Last Thursday was a day of clouds and a soaking rain. Tomorrow promises lots of sunshine along with a south wind. The heat index will hover around 100 degrees.

Tomorrow's high is a number we've hit a few times already this year. On Monday we'll have a southwest wind, dewpoints in the low 70's and a forecast high of 98°. This is will not only be the hottest day of the year so far  but those high dewpoints will likely trigger our first HEAT ADVISORY of the year as the heat index will near 105 degrees.

A cold front moves towards us Monday night and stalls over us somewhere on Tuesday as a stationary front. This will provide storm chances late Monday night, Tuesday and Wednesday.

Chances are that the storms that develop late Monday and Tuesday will be severe, the main threat being damaging winds. Timing and storm-organization (will they start to form a line as they approach?) will go a long way to determine that. We'll keep you posted.
