From Too Little Water To Too Much On Lake Lewisville

DENTON COUNTY(CBSDFW.COM) - Some tourism business could dry up this Memorial Day Weekend because of all the water.

"I've never seen it like this," says bartender Lindsey Sandifer.  "Never. I mean, I've heard stories about it getting high and flooding the pool, but this is crazy! We're underwater!"

If Lindsey Sandifer isn't working behind the bar inside Sneaky Pete's she's normally working at the outside bar.  But Tuesday that bar was cut off by flood water.

The parking lot is flooded.  So are nearby marinas, boat ramps and parks. The lake is seven-and-a-half feet above its maximum capacity.

"I never, never would've thought this would happen," says Sandifer.

"Obviously, it is not going to be a normal Lake Lewisville Memorial Day Weekend," says game warden Logan Griffen.

A few weeks ago during the drought, game wardens were warning boaters to beware exposed stumps and shoals in the middle of the lake.  Now they're telling boaters the danger is closer to shore.

"You know, you could be driving over a parking lot in some cases," says Griffen.  "You could be driving over a sign. Things you would never think of! Now, with the water being malevolent is over, you could possibly be over some hazards."

A month ago they prayed for rain here. Now they pray for sunshine.

"We're hoping," says Sandifer.  "Hoping for no more rain."
