FRISCO (CBS11) - Some Frisco high school football players are feeling awestruck by their first look inside the Cowboys' new Ford Center. The professional practice field will double as home to Frisco ISD games and other school events.

You can't blame young players for feeling blown away by their first look at the new stadium. Friday was the opportunity to enjoy that feeling and get it out of their system in time to keep their heads in the game.

Lone Star High School got the honor of being first cleats on the field. For players like Tanner Leser, the difference between this and a regular practice was overwhelming.

"It's triple the size. It's just amazing compared to ours. It's just astounding to really be able to play here. It's pretty great," Leser said.

Cowboys owner Jerry Jones told reporters he loved to see high school players be the first to play on his team's practice field. He looked forward to the day when one of them crosses paths with Tony Romo on the way to the locker rooms, a meeting Lone Star players are ready to have.

"Really I'd ask him probably like, what's it like being an NFL quarterback 'cause that's my dream is being an NFL quarterback," Lone Star quarterback Jason Shelley said.

"I would ask how, when you're on the field and you mess up, how do you come back 'cause all the fans are watching you?" Lone Star defensive lineman Logan Jones added.

That star struck feeling is something coach Jeff Rayburn wants to indulge for now so it's out of their system when it comes time to play a real game here.

"We want these kids to take this in, soak it in. This is something they can remember for the rest of their lives," Rayburn said.

But in the end, the game is the game, and these young athletes seem ready to set aside their awe and play ball.

"A different setting, but once you're with the same people, you got the same coaching staff, you have the same attitude and mindset, it's all the same," Leser said.

The Ford Center seats 12,000 people, and the opening day quadruple header on August 27 is already sold out. But school officials remind fans they can still get tickets for games later in the season.
