Four Thousand Years Of Marriage In One Church
ARLINGTON (CBSDFW.COM) - 'Til death do you part is usually in a couple's wedding vows. But what does it take to make a relationship work? First Baptist Arlington is recognizing a group of members who seem to have the answer to that very question.
They're a part of a unique club comprised of 80 couples who have been married 50 years or more.
That's more than 4,000 of marriage under one roof.
"You've got couples that have been through crisis storm challenges and they somehow found a way to stay married, together and stay in love," said Dr. Dennis Wiles, pastor.
Pastor Wiles say they are living proof that marriage isn't complicated -- it just requires commitment.
Rosemary Wade married her husband Charles 52 years ago.
"Be kind whether you want to be or not," advises Wade.
Tom Taylor said he's still enjoying his marriage after more than 5 decades but his wife Helen said it's not easy and marriage requires a lot of heavenly guidance.
"You depend on The Lord for one thing."
Commitment, honesty and not going to bed angry are other pieces of advice offered by couples.
