4 Can't-Miss Concerts In Dallas This August
The Dear Hunter
August 23, 2011 7:30pm
SHOW MOVED TO THE PROPHET BAR!!!!
The Dear Hunter and their full suite of three (3!) opening bands. The Dear Hunter is fronted by Casey Crescenzo, who used to be a member of hard-rockin' band The Receiving End of Sirens. This new project is a bit toned down, a bit more progressive rock, and with some great lyrics (that you can actually hear!)
What to expect: A jam-tastic show, with hours of music, thanks to the multitude of opening acts.

Sia, an indie female singer-songwriter, brings her diverse vocal power to the Granada Theater on August 7. An Australian touring the U.S. by way of Britain, performing songs from her 2010 album We Are Born. You might know her from her song Breathe Me which has probably made an appearance on at least 5 episodes of Grey's Anatomy.
What to expect: a lot of indie head banging (the less head movement, the better), beautiful vocals and lots and lots of hipsters.

The Handsome Furs are made up of Dan Boeckner of Wolf Parade and his wife Alexei Perry. Yes, the Canadians are a'comin' to Dallas. And they are bringing their own brand of electronic music with them. This show features songs from their latest album Song Kapital, which was written entirely on keyboards, and heavily inspired by 1980s European electronic and industrial music.
What to expect: I'm not entirely sure, but their music is really, really good. So go. And try something new.
