FORT WORTH (KRLD-AM) -- There isn't much harmony these days between musicians and management at the Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra.
Its musicians staged a sit-in at symphony offices Thursday, protesting the cancellation of all future contract negotiation sessions.
A spokesman for the musicians said in January, they agreed to a contract extension through July of 2016. The statement said as part of the extension, management withdrew its call for an 8.7 percent pay cut and promised to return to the bargaining table as soon as possible.
The musicians said on Monday, management cancelled three scheduled negotiation sessions, without offering alternate dates.
"This recklessness, lack of good faith, and dereliction of duty on management's part cannot be tolerated," the statement read.
"We will continue performing and demonstrating as more and more Fort Worth citizens join us in the fight to preserve the Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra and the legacy of 'Cowboys and Culture'."
