Fort Worth officer reinstated after being cleared of wrongdoing in 2022 shooting
The Fort Worth Police Department has reinstated an officer after he was cleared of wrongdoing during a shooting in 2022 on the 2700 block of White Settlement Road.
Hugo Barron had been given his job back along with back pay, time off and other benefits.
Barron shot a suspected car thief in 2022 and was fired by Chief Neil Noakes after an internal investigation found the officer guilty of violating the department's use of force policy.
A Tarrant County grand jury declined to indict the officer and he appealed to an arbitrator to be reinstated.
After a hearing that included evidence along with testimony from the chief and the former officer, along with other witnesses, an arbitrator ruled that Barron did not violate any department policies.
The 10-year veteran officer was assigned to the patrol bureau at the time of the shooting.
