First Case Of West Nile Reported In Texas

DALLAS, Texas (CBSDFW.COM) - Texas has it's first case of West Nile this season.

State health officials confirm one human case of the West Nile virus in Travis County. Because of confidentially laws, there's no information about the patient or the person's condition - just confirmation one person is being treated for West Nile fever.

Last year you might remember 14 people died from the West Nile virus...with 183 cases confirmed state wide.

As a precaution, several communities have already started mosquito spraying.

Health experts say the best way to protect yourself is by always using insect repellent when you're outside.
