AUSTIN (AP) - A Central Texas jury is to hear final arguments before deliberating the fate of a driver accused of a deadly crash at last year's South By Southwest festival in Austin, Texas.

The Travis County jury hears arguments Friday in the capital murder trial of Rashad Owens, whose car plowed into a downtown Austin crowd in March 2014, killing four people.

Prosecutors say Owens was drunk and fled to avoid a traffic stop. Owens did not testify before the defense rested Thursday without calling any witnesses. Prosecutors rested earlier.

If convicted, the 23-year-old Killeen man would receive an automatic sentence of life imprisonment without parole as prosecutors aren't seeking the death penalty.

Owens also faces trial on 24 counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon for other crash injuries
