ARLINGTON (CBSDFW.COM) - They are on the streets walking, flying flags from cars in snarled traffic and waiting in lines for tables at crowded restaurants. You can hear the effect of a national championship game everywhere in north Arlington.

"O! H! I! O!" they chanted in unison at one restaurant.

And 'O' how the Oregon fans are spending too!

Arlington's Convention and Visitors bureau says visitor-wise this game ranks among the best events ever for the city. One of the key differences from other events is fans arrived earlier than most with restaurants and shopping centers reporting their first spikes in business as early as Friday.

"We are in town until Wednesday," said Jennifer Cornett, an Oregon fan who was waiting with friends for a table at Boomerjacks "We got in on Saturday. We're staying kind of in between Arlington and Dallas."

And people are spending money.

"Around $5000," Cornett said. "But it's well worth it!"

Jamie Sheets, an Ohio fan said, "We will probably spend a lot of money while we're here: Adult beverages, probably, food, hotel.

The visitors bureau said hotels were at or near capacity through the weekend and Monday night.

And fans were glad to score whatever rooms they could just to have a place to sleep while they're here.

Ohio fan Rick Ellis said he couldn't find a hotel so he was staying nearby.

Up the road, Grand Prairie, Motel 6," he laughed. "We couldn't find anything else we waited too long!"
