ARLINGTON (KRLD) - Emergency crews arrived to an apartment fire on Wednesday night knowing that animals were stuck inside the residence.
Arlington Fire Department Lieutenant David Taylor says firefighters found the animals unresponsive.
"We treated them with high-flow oxygen. The dog, whose name is Tank, started to come around after about twenty minutes or so. The cat, named Paintbrush, actually took a little bit longer, but within about an hour of treatment the cat also came to. Both are doing OK today, we talked to the owner."
"Arlington and Pantego Fire responded to an apartment fire. On the way, they received reports that animals were inside the apartment. When crews arrived, they began fighting the fire and searching for occupants. Pantego firefighters located a dog and cat suffering from smoke inhalation. Arlington Squad and Engine 4 brought the animals out and began aggressively treating them with special oxygen masks and IV fluids," said the department's Facebook page.
Sadly, another cat perished in the accident.
