Emergency crews respond to train derailment in Palo Pinto County, officials say

Emergency crews are responding to a train derailment east of Gordon in Palo Pinto Tuesday afternoon.

According to officials, the derailment happened at about 1:45 p.m. over a railroad bridge on Coalville Road north of State 193.

Officials said 35 train cars carrying hazardous materials are involved, but none of them show signs of leaking at the scene. Officials said the crash sparked some small grass fires around the scene that crews are managing.

Video of the train that derailed outside of Gordon. No injuries reported. All ESD1 departments have been on scene managing the situation along with Union Pacific HazMat officials, DPS, Palo Pinto County Sheriff’s Office, Federal Railroad Association, Texas Forestry Services & TCEQ. There are still some small grass fires around the scene that crews are managing.
