Eagle Mountain Lake Reopens After Flooding

FORT WORTH (CBSDFW.COM) - Eagle Mountain Lake is open!

The lake opened back up at 6:00 a.m. on Tuesday morning and has been mostly quiet so far.

The north Fort Worth lake was shut down during last month's rainfall after flooding in the area became a threat to local homes. The water level has finally dropped enough for it to be safe for boaters.

Businesses around the lake -- like Augie's Sunset Cafe -- are now ready to start a busy summer. They actually kept their doors open while the lake was closed. "It will probably triple the business, just the boats parking, coming in," employee Denny Steward said. "People been calling for the last week, wanting to know when the lake was going to reopen."

The Tarrant Regional Water District warned that the water at Eagle Mountain Lake is still murky. Boaters heading out on the water are cautioned to look out for debris and even structures that are still submerged.
