North Texas Dries Out, Stays Dry After Weekend Rain

TODAY:  a beautiful day with sunny skies and light winds.  Highs:  81-85.  Winds:  SE 5-10.

TONIGHT:  clear and cool.  Lows:  55-60.  Winds:  Calm.

TOMORROW:  mostly sunny, continued warm.  Highs 83-87.  Winds:  S 5-15.

After a weekend highlighted by warm conditions and a line of storms Saturday night, overall we have a quiet week ahead.  In the first part of the week, the air will be relatively dry with temperatures topping out in the 80s.  Today and tomorrow, we will see high clouds across mainly the southern half of North Texas thanks to Hurricane Paul in the Pacific Ocean.  Paul will wind itself down over the next few days off the west coast of Baja, California and only send weak energy and clouds over Texas.

Breezy conditions develop Tuesday with windy conditions Wednesday ahead of a cold front forecast to arrive during the late afternoon into early evening hours.  Ahead of the front, temperatures should warm into the upper 80s area wide.  The main jet stream will steer energy well north of Texas and bring rain and tumbling temperatures to the Northern Plains, Midwest, Great Lakes and the Northeast late this week.  The cold front attached to this energy should come through most of North Texas dry late Wednesday afternoon into early evening.  Any rain chances will be to the east.

 The front will usher in drier, cooler temperatures in the 70s for the end of the work week and will allow temperatures in the cities to cool to the lower 50s while suburbs and rural areas will dip into the 40s both Thursday and Friday morning.  A warming trend is expected to be back in place by the weekend with Sunday especially showing potential to get really warm.
