PALO PINTO COUNTY (CBSDFW.COM) -  A 70-year-old man driving a pickup told DPS troopers he fell asleep while driving before hitting a school bus.

It happened around 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the intersection of the north frontage road of Interstate 20 and US Highway 281

Seven students on the Crandall ISD bus were taking to area hospitals with minor injuries.

The pickup, driven by Charles R. Gill, 70, of Denton, failed to control its speed and struck the rear of the bus, according to DPS.

There were 27 students on the bus, ages 17 and 18, and four adults, including the driver.

The bus was traveling to tour the Tarleton State University campus.  Mr. Gill was cited for fail to control speed.
