DPS Trooper Seizes More Than 27 Pounds Of Marijuana

AMARILLO (CBSDFW.COM) – The Texas Department of Public Safety conducted a traffic stop Tuesday on IH-40, yielding more than 27 pounds of marijuana, according to a post on the DPS Facebook page. The marijuana is valued at more than $168,000.
At approximately 9:03 a.m., a DPS trooper conducted a traffic stop on a 2016 Hyundai Sonata passenger car traveling eastbound on IH-40, for a traffic violation, near Vega in Oldham County.
The occupants of the Sonata were identified as Amanda Nicole Narganes, 21, of Miami and Michael Samuel Hidalgo, 26, of Hialeah, Fla. During the traffic stop, the trooper discovered the marijuana in the trunk.
Narganes and Hidalgo were placed under arrest for possession of marijuana over five pounds but less than fifty, a third-degree felony, and booked into the Oldham County Jail. It is unknown where the marijuana originated or the destination.
