Delayed Decision To Close UTA Angers Students
ARLINGTON (CBSDFW.COM) - The decision to close UTA Wednesday came too late for some of its students.
The university posted the following message on its Facebook page, "The University of Texas at Arlington will close at 8 p.m. tonight, Wednesday March 4, due to forecasts for freezing rain and sleet and potentially icy road conditions..."
But some students say it was posted too late -- at 7:22 pm. only 38 minutes before the university planned to shut down.
Adriana Tapia commented on the post, "NICE UTA! You made us drive and now you are sending us home! Very nice!"
Shannon Lamberson posted, "I love UTA too, but bad call tonight. Closing at 8 p.m. When the roads are already getting bad. What about the safety of your students and professors."
Still other students urged the university not to make the same mistake for classes on Thursday.
Cameron Turrill wrote, "Um what about tomorrow.........??????"
Cody M. Arnold posted, "You need to be making your decision about tomorrow NOW or ASAP."
UTA didn't respond to any of the student comments as of 9 pm and hadn't made a decision about Thursday classes by that time.
