Deadly wrong-way crash reported along highway in Irving, 2 people arrested police say
The Irving Police Department said it's investigating a deadly wrong-way crash that unfolded early Saturday morning and resulted in the arrest of two people.
Police said it happened around 2:40 a.m. along State Highway 114 near MacArthur Boulevard. According to the department, a vehicle was traveling west in the eastbound lanes of the highway when it hit a motorcycle head-on. The motorcyclist, who has not yet been identified, was declared dead at the scene.
The department said the vehicle driver was found to be intoxicated and was arrested. A passenger was also arrested for public intoxication. Neither has been publicly identified.
Traffic was forced to exit at Hidden Ridge. Part of the highway was closed for several hours, with Irving Police asking drivers to avoid the area.
