DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) - The State Fair of Texas begins on Friday, and officials with Dallas Area Rapid Transit want to get everybody to Big Tex this year without any headaches. They are expecting big crowds this weekend, and DART has added extra lines to help out people heading to Fair Park.
The State Fair of Texas runs from September 25 to October 18.
Riders can take the DART rail's Green Line to two Fair Park stations. That rail schedule is already in effect so that people can get used to the changes. More lines will also be added for the Texas-Oklahoma showdown on October 10. That will include an increase in rail service, buses and Trinity Railway Express trains.
More than 100,000 people are expected to invade Fair Park to be a part of the big college football game. DART warns that the trains start filling up fast -- more than two hours before kickoff -- so riders are encouraged to get there early.
DART has posted all of their updated schedules, along with special details about the State Fair and the Red River Showdown, online so that riders can plan ahead.
