Dallas Teenager Dies From Flu
DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) - Dallas County Health and Human Services has confirmed that a 17-year-old Dallas County resident's death was flu-related. This is the third pediatric death in Dallas County for the 2013-2014 flu season.
DCHHS received the report Friday afternoon from Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).
For medical confidentiality and personal privacy reasons, DCHHS does not provide additional identifying information.
The flu vaccine is recommended for almost everyone except children younger than 6 months of age. According to CDC, the vaccine is the best means of flu prevention.
The vaccine is available free for adult and children in the immunizations clinics on the first floor of the DCHHS building at 2377 N. Stemmons Freeway in Dallas.
The adult and children immunization clinics are open from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday.
