Dallas Sniper Worried About Being Stopped Before Deadly Attack

DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) - Days before Dallas police officers were killed and wounded in a sniper attack, their accused assailant asked neighbors in Mesquite to check the taillights on his SUV because he did not want to be stopped by police "for any reason."
A neighbor told CBS 11's I-Team Micah Johnson approached him and a friend as they played basketball. He told them he was going on a "road trip" for work.
"He asked us to check his taillights because he was going to be on the road and didn't want to be stopped by police for any reason," said the neighbor, who didn't want to be identified.
He said he and a friend stopped playing a game of basketball long enough for Johnson to turn on his SUV's lights and tap his brakes.
After telling him everything worked, Johnson thanked them, and let them resume their game, the neighbor told the I-Team.
He said Johnson, 25, did not say where he was going or what sort of work was related to his trip.
The neighbor said it was the last time he saw Johnson before the July 7 sniper attack in downtown Dallas that killed four city police officers and a DART officer, and wounded several others, including two civilians.
