DALLAS (CBS11) - Dallas police surprised a burglary victim when they showed up with presents to replace ones stolen from under her Christmas tree.
This, after Maria Cardona said she returned home with her children Monday night to find her window wide open.
"I was scared. I was terrified. I was about to cry," she said.
She called police who searched her home.
No one was inside and at first, it appeared nothing was missing.
Then Cardona realized her children's Christmas gifts were gone.
"They think it's probably jewelry or something big or fancy, but it's kids presents," she said.
Police made a report and left.
The very next night, though, those same officers were back at Cardona's door.
"I was surprised. I didn't know what was going on," she said.
In their arms, they had gifts for three-year-old Alena, who they noticed loves the movie "Frozen."
They told her mother they wanted to make sure she had presents under the tree.
Cardona had one more request for them.
"I asked them for a hug and they said 'yes', so I gave them a hug and said 'Thank you'."
