DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) - City of Dallas street crews will be keeping an eye on surface roads throughout the evening and overnight.
Jerry Ortega, Assistant Director of Street Services, says he declared the city's Ice Force One response at an end at 5 p.m. Thursday. Ortega says that means streets were ice and snow free.
Up to 35 trucks, some equipped with plows, ran routes throughout Dallas in the aftermath of the snow and ice storm.
The crews focused on inclines and overpasses. The plan, Ortega says, was to clear all the melting slush from the lanes, in anticipation of freezing temperatures overnight and into Friday morning.
The concern is that puddles will refreeze and lead to slick spots.
Ortega says up to two trucks per district will be in scouting mode tonight. If wet or icy patches are found, crews will respond with sand and salt.
