Dallas Cowboys 2nd Round Pick Helped Off Field At Mini Camp
IRVING (CBS 11 SPORTS) - Randy Gregory began the day with his first official practice as a Dallas Cowboy. That was this morning.. followed by a media interview session.
Gregory was forced to leave the afternoon practice and had to be helped off the field at Valley Ranch as he battled what is believed to be dehydration. Though was not an extremely hot afternoon, keep in mind some of these rookies haven't had a real practice since December.
In Gregory's case, his season with the Nebraska Cornhuskers ended December 27, 2014. Working out with private trainers and participating in the draft combine is not the same thing as an actual NFL practice, especially when you're trying to make a name for yourself in front of the coaching staff.
Earlier in the day, Gregory joked about he and offensive lineman La'el Collins (not participating in this week's mini camp) have the same agent, and each have a chip on their shoulder.
In Collins' case, he went totally undrafted and signed with the Cowboys yesterday.
Gregory says he can't wait to go against Collins in practice, and when asked if he's worried about Collins having the big weight advantage, Gregory responded "I have never been pancaked in my life."
Day two of Cowboys rookie mini camp takes place Saturday at Valley Ranch. In between now and then, you can count on Gregory and the rest of the rookies drinking lots of fluids.
