DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) - The Dallas County Sheriff's Department released a brief statement Friday afternoon explaining why it would not release lobby video from July 31 when Joseph Hutcehson, 48, ran in screaming, was subdued by officers and died.

The entire statement reads:

Our sympathies go out to the family of Joseph Hutcheson. So many suffer when a person dies involving law enforcement. We attempt to make the suffering less when we do a full investigation. Release of any video at this time will compromise the investigation because witnesses could change their statements based on what they see in the media. We would rather have the investigation done right the first time than rush to judgment without all of the facts.

Earlier Friday, family members were outside the building.  Hutcheson's brother James said, "I want to know how my brother can come in here looking for help and leave dead."
