Dallas Animal Services Wants You To Match Maggie's Gift

DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) - Dallas Animal Services is hoping to raise thousands of dollars in donations, $2.26 at a time.

That's the amount that Maggie sent in to raise money for food and toys for pets at Dallas. She sent two single dollar bills and change along with a handwritten note that reads, "from Maggie. I hope the pets are OK. Give them happy lifs. (sp) And toys and food. Love Maggie."

Dallas Animal Services posted her sweet letter and a request for their Facebook fans to donate $2.26 or more by Monday 5/18. They say if each of their Facebook fans met the challenge, more than $70,000 would be collected for the homeless pets at DAS.  So far, they have collected dozens of donations, with one donor giving $100 to the cause.

The folks at DAS don't know much about Maggie.  They only have her address from the envelope in which she mailed the donation.  But they are trying to get in contact with her so they can give her a tour of the facility and let her meet some of the animals.
