Cyber Monday Success Blamed For UPS Delivery Delays

DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) - The billion dollar success of Cyber Monday shopping is being blamed for delayed packages. "Online shopping exceeded most industry expectations," says Susan Rosenberg, spokesperson for UPS. "And we've had some isolated locations for spot delays."
Candice LeCody, Dallas, says her week has been held hostage: waiting on a 'signature required' delivery that has been repeatedly delayed.
"This has been very frustrating," says LeCody. "The first day, I just chalked it up to, `ah, it's the holidays: it's busy… it'll come Monday'."
The package did not. But, LeCody did get an email. "It says, 'we have not yet unloaded the package from the trailer. This may delay delivery." You think??? LeCody continued reading, "Delivery will be rescheduled… so I got that, five days ago."
LeCody called UPS. But, says what passed for a personal response wasn't much better. And she's struggling to understand the delay. After all, she says, "there's no ice storm!"
Two years ago, an early December ice storm left the freeways impassable. Big rigs were frozen in place and holiday delivery schedules were left in shambles. But, with temperatures today in the 70s, ice is certainly not the culprit now.
"Still, they really had no answer," says LeCody, "no excuse….didn't apologize."
When contacted by CBS 11, Rosenberg called the delivery delays "isolated" and went on to say that the packages should be out for delivery if not today… then by tomorrow.
But, LeCody doesn't want promises.
"I want my package and I want them to fix the problem so other people get their packages, too." And she admits, an apology would be nice, as well.
