Cowboys 'Tough Guy' Free Wants To Play

IRVING (105.3 THE FAN) -- Inside the walls of Valley Ranch, Doug Free's reputation as a "tough guy'' is beyond reproach. But his toughness is about to get tested by what team officials are calling a right foot sprain.
Free, the right tackle for the most productive offensive line in football, told Cowboys coaches on Monday morning that he believes he can play this Sunday against the visiting Giants. But the club is planning on Free missing the next couple games due to the injury.
"We'll see what it is here over the next few days," Cowboys coach Jason Garrett said on Monday.
Free -- part of a line that is central to both DeMarco Murray's chase for a rushing title and Dallas' surprising 5-1 record -- was injured late in Sunday's win at Seattle. He was replaced by Jermey Parnell, a fifth-year swing tackle who finished with the regular offense in Seattle and on his very first snap threw a critical block to free Murray for the game-winning 15-yard touchdown run.
