Cowboys Remain Confident In Near-Perfect Bailey
ARLINGTON (CBSDFW.COM) -- Dan Bailey hadn't missed a field goal since September 29, 2013.
He extended his Cowboys franchise and NFC East record by making his 30th straight in the second quarter -- a 33-yarder.
But when the Cowboys had the chance to walk away with a win in regulation, he missed from 53-yards.
"I just pulled it a little bit," said Bailey after the game, saying the snap and hold weren't a problem.
Head Coach Jason Garrett once again put the game on Bailey's foot, electing to kick a 49-yard field goal in overtime on third down.
As per usual, Bailey converted.
Garrett was asked after the game if had lost any confidence in his 26-year-old kicker.
"Have you watched our football team for the last few years?" Garrett asked, laughing. "The guy's pretty damn good."
"This guy's as locked in and focused an individual as I've ever been around and he's just unbelievable at what he does."
Bailey wasn't bothered by his broken streak, instead chosing to look at the game-winner as the beginning of a new streak. And when he stepped on the field to kick the game-winner, his confidence hadn't waivered.
"With the guys I have blocking for me, and the whole entire operation -- it makes that very easy from a mental standpoint for me. All I gotta do is go out there and do what I can do. I know that they have confidence in me and I have confidence in me. Just got to go out there and go 1-for-1."
And that's exactly what Bailey did.
