Cowboys Shuffle LBs As Durant Moves To IR

By Mike Fisher | @fishsports

IRVING (CBSDFW.COM) -- At this time last week, Justin Durant was in a festive mood, playfully ordering a group of younger Dallas Cowboys teammates to decorate the linebackers meeting room in Halloween decor.

Today, that linebackers room has a different mood and a different look.

The Cowboys have placed team captain Durant on IR with the torn bicep he sustained in Monday's loss to Washington.

Meanwhile, there is other shuffling, with middle linebacker Rolando McClain missing Wednesday's practice, as the starting threesome during the workout featured Bruce Carter as the WILL, Kyle Wilber as Durant's replacement as the SAM, and rookie Anthony Hitchens playing MIKE.

To fill the roster spot, Dallas has signed Tim Dobbins, 31, previously a standout special-teamer in Houston and someone Dallas flirted with signing when he was a free agent.

Dobbins began his career as a fifth round pick in San Diego in 2006, where he spent the first four seasons of his career. He has spent the last three seasons in Houston, appearing in 22 games and recording 55 tackles. The former Iowa State Cyclone has 253 career tackles.

Dobbins spent time with the Falcons this offseason but was released prior to the season.
