Cowboys Fans Upbeat About Garrett Announcement
ARLINGTON (CBSDFW.COM) - Dallas Cowboys fans are reacting with optimism to the announcement that Jason Garrett will now be the team's new head coach.
"He demands a lot more discipline than Wade Phillips" says Adam Hollar of Portland, Oregon. Hollar and his wife, Machelle are visiting family members in Fort Worth. "I don't want to talk too much about Wade but I think Jason brings the discipline to the team that was probably lacking in the first four or five games of the season" he says.
Brandy and Herman Baxter and their eight-month-old daughter, Joy, were on a tour of Cowboys Stadium when the press conference announcing Garrett's leadership was announced today. They were able to watch it live on the big screen inside.
"That was unbelievable! We had no idea that that was going to be announced so when our tour guide told us they were going to make that announcement everyone was super-excited" says Brandy Herman.
Marketing experts say today's announcement bodes well economically for the sale of team merchandise.
"In Garrett I see a winner" says Daniel Howard, Professor of Marketing at the Cox School of Business at Southern Methodist University. "I see someone that people can stand behind and like."
The Pro Shop at Cowboys stadium has become a destination for visitors and local fans.
Herman Baxter is serving in the U.S. Air Force and here in North Texas visiting relatives. "We're very excited to make sure we watch all the games and to try to get back here for a home game as well."
