Cowboys CB Carr Focused On Texans After Mom's Death

IRVING, Texas (AP) - Brandon Carr has shut off just about anything that isn't football or family.

The Dallas cornerback says part of the reason is the focus that has come from dealing with his mother's death during training camp after a long battle with breast cancer. His team's surprising 3-1 start has a role as well.

Carr didn't pay attention to the drum beat of low expectations for the defense heading into the season. And he's not interested in talk of how they're doing it heading into Sunday's home game against the Houston Texans, also a surprise at 3-1.

In his third season with Dallas since signing a $50 million free agent deal, Carr is a leader for the Dallas defense on and off the field.
