Cool For A Couple More Days, Storms Possible Wednesday

We had enough sunshine in the metro area to be granted a pleasant enough winter afternoon, highs reached the low 50's with very little wind. Clouds to the west of our area keeps afternoon temps in the mid-to-low 40's from Bowie to Mineral Wells to Granbury.

Tonight we expect clouds and lows just above freezing, a little below that in our eastern counties with less cloud cover.

Tomorrow not as much sunshine in store for us with highs again around 50 degrees. There will likely be a moment or two of light rain/drizzle during the afternoon but nothing to change your tailgating plans if you are heading to Cowboy stadium.

Monday I'm expecting even more in cloud cover, a southeast wind will attempt to warm us but absent sunshine it won't get far. After morning lows in the mid-30's it likely it'll stay in the low-to-mid-50's by afternoon. Again, I would not be surprise to see some light rain/drizzle on occasion but that's about all it would be.

Tuesday the weather pattern remains the same but with warmer temperatures. The second day of a southeast wind translates to lows in the 40's and highs around 60 degrees, a balmy day considering the temperatures of late. In fact this will be the warmest day in the last ten.

Wednesday rain is back in the forecast, good chances for it arrives late that day as a weather system from the west rakes over north Texas. Here is the forecast in regards to total rainfall for the event:

Since highs will be in the upper 60's I expect we'll have some thunderstorm in the afternoon or evening with this front coming through. Good rainfall amounts are possible, a little more help with the drought conditions. Over the last 30 days the aerial coverage of the extreme drought conditions over the Lone Star State dropped from a staggering 90% to 76%. Still a long, long way to go to true relief but headed in the right direction. Below is the latest graphic on drought conditions across the state. Notice that the better conditions are in north Texas. Lucky us.
