Cold Front Arrives This Morning
VERY MILD START TO A COOLER DAY
Yesterday hit 80° for only the second time this year. We awake this morning to find temperatures in the mid-60's and very humid. A cold front arrives this morning to sweep away this humid air and put temperatures closer to typical March conditions.
NICE FRIDAY, DRY WEEKEND
Though temperatures start this morning in the upper 60's they will soon drop. Yesterday we jumped up 17° from 9am to noon, today temperatures will actually drop some. Right now a brisk southwest wind is bringing in warm air. A cold front sweeps across the metro area during the late morning commute, winds turn to the northwest and we'll be in the upper 50's briefly. Winds turn to the NW and get a little gusty across morning and mid-day. Lunchtime temperatures will be in the mid-60s (where we were around breakfast time) but afternoon highs should still reach to the low 70's. Much lower humidity later today with these north winds.
BIG TORNADO DAY IN THE SOUTH AND OHIO VALLEY
The Storm Prediction Center is anticipating a very rough day across the Tennessee and Ohio Valleys as a strong low pressure system moves across the eastern half of the U.S. They have put a large swath of Tn/Ky in a moderate risk area (red) with a hatching mark showing where large tornadoes are possible.
OUR WEEKEND FORECAST
We were spared this season from any strong winter storms and we'll be spared this first weekend in March of any Spring storms. We'll have a cooler day on Saturday, barely reaching to 60° with sunny skies. On Sunday highs will get to around 70° with very little wind and lots of sunshine. Nice weekend.
NEXT WEEK
Nice start to our work week, Monday and Tuesday will be in the 70's and mostly sunny. Clouds enter late Tuesday. We'll have a chance a chance for some passing showers on Wednesday. A strong cold front arrives on Thursday, this looks like a chance for strong storms. Both days will be very windy with highs around 70 degrees.
