Cleveland Signs Cowboys Practice Squad QB Tanney
IRVING (CBSDFW.COM) -- The Cleveland Browns have signed Dallas Cowboys quarterback Alex Tanney off the team's practice squad.
Dallas had the opportunity to protect Tanney by adding him to the team's 53-man roster, but chose not to.
Tanney joined the Cowboys prior to training camp after spending 2012 with Kansas City. His best game came in week 3 of the preseason in Arizona, where he completed his first 11 passes of the second half, including a touchdown to rookie tight-end Gavin Escobar.
At DIII Monmouth College, Tanney set the NCAA record for all-time career touchdown passes with 157.
He's best known in most circles for his trick shot video in which he completes a number of improbable throws.
