Child Injured, Father Arrested For Making Terroristic Threat
HALTOM CITY (CBSDFW.COM) -- A Watauga man has been charged with making a terroristic threat after becoming angry that his child was injured at a babysitter's residence.
The incident began on Monday at 3:30 p.m. when Haltom City Police responded to a report of an injured child at Cook Children's Hospital. According to police, the child was injured at the babysitter's residence, an apartment at 5700 N. Beach St.
When the child's father, 29-year-old Javier Payan of Watauga, learned of the situation, he became angry and said he was going to the babysitter's residence. Payan also made threatening statements about his intentions once he arrived at the residence.
Payan was met by police when he arrived at the residence. When police requested he get out of his vehicle, he refused and threatened to discharge a bomb.
Officers communicated with the father while evacuating part of the apartment complex. Payan eventually surrendered and was taking into custody.
He was arrested and charged with making a terroristic threat, though no explosive devices or weapons were found in the vehicle.
Payan remains in a North Richland Hills jail with bond set at $5,000.
The babysitter was also arrested and charges are pending.
