DUNCANVILLE (CBS11) - A local mother is furious after she said discipline in the classroom for her seven-year-old daughter went too far.

Kaylor Jones said her daughter, Kayliyah, was restrained by an employee at Hyman Elementary at Duncanville ISD. Jones claims the employee held her daughter's arms behind her back and somehow bumped her head into the wall.

"You're trusting them to be safe with them. It hurts," said Jones.

Jones said she was alerted to the severity of the situation when Kayliyah came home from school complaining about her arms and teeth hurting.

When Jones took her daughter to urgent care, a doctor diagnosed her with "tooth avulsion" likely caused by a "direct blow to the tooth and gum."

"I just think about them hurting my child. I don't know what's all going through her mind. She didn't want to go back to that school," said Jones.

What bothers Jones is that she claims she never signed the form giving the school permission to restrain her daughter.

"Call me if you have to if I have to come up there and sit with her. If I have to bring her home (I will)," said Jones

Duncanville ISD said it does not need parent consent or signed forms to restrain students.

A spokesperson released the following statement:

"The care and well-being of our students always remains the highest priority at Duncanville Independent School District. When a parent expresses a concern, we routinely conduct administrative investigations to determine if all policies and guidelines have been followed. In this case, the review process is still ongoing. The information and evidence collected to date do not indicate any violation of policy."

Jones admits her daughter is no angel and deserved discipline. But she said her daughter is only 54 pounds and feels there had to be a better way to handle kids.

"I'm speaking not only for my child, it goes for all kids," said Jones.
