DALLAS (KRLD) - Doctors at UT Southwestern Medical Center will now examine the brain of 19 year old McCann Utu, who killed his mother and brother in their Plano home on April 8th.

McCann later died in the hospital of self inflicted stab wounds. He turned a knife on himself after fatally stabbing his 17 year old brother Josiah, and their mother Stacy Fawcett. Fawcett was a well known food blogger and media personality in north Texas.

McCann's brain was donated to UT Southwestern for study. He had suffered two concussions within the space of three months.

"Concussions are brain traumas," says Dr. Nimish Patel, a neurosurgeon for Methodist Health. "We've seen behaviors drastically change because of them."

One of McCann's concussions was from playing basketball at Plano West Senior High School. The other was from a fight.

"In general, repeated concussions do have an effect on peoples' personalities because they effect certain parts of the brain," says Patel. "Because of a concussion, the ability to make decisions can change. There could be an increase in aggressive behavior, or a change in how someone deals with depression."

Family and friends say McCann was never the same person as he was before those concussions. Part of the autopsy revealed a high level of antidepressants in his blood. The autopsy found no illegal drugs in his body.
