FORT WORTH (CBSDFW.COM) - It was nearly 60 degrees outside.  But, in downtown Fort Worth it was cold enough for ice hockey.

Cowtown welcomed hockey back to the Fort Worth Convention Center Friday night. The Texas Brahmas left the friendly sanctuary of their home at the NYTEX Sports Centre in North Richland Hills for the inaugural Fort Worth Faceoff.

Their opponent was the Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees.

Early on it was the visitors packing the sting.  Rio Grande grabbed an early lead 1-0 in the first period off goalie Mark Guggenberger.
Things didn't get better in the 2nd.  Texas gave up two more goals including a short-handed unassisted score with 20 seconds left in the period.
An announced crowd of 4,520 remained loud going into the deciding 3rd period.

The Brahmas has a chance to get back in the game with a 5 on 3 power play with 15 minutes left in the 3rd period.

Texas couldn't get the puck past the goalie virtually icing a win for the Killer Bees.  Rio Grande added one more goal with 3 minutes left to make the final score 4-0.

The Brahmas did win the shots on goal 28 to 15.

The Texas Brahmas honored Fort Worth's hockey past wearing vintage Fort Worth Texans jerseys for the game.

Texas and Rio Grande meet tomorrow night at 7:30 P.M. at the Fort Worth  Convention Center for game two of the Fort Worth Faceoff.
