IRVING (CBSDFW.COM) - State Highway 114 in Irving, near the north entrance to DFW International Airport, was a traffic mess early Thursday morning because of a bizarre crash. Just as police were preparing to haul away the cars, a victim was discovered.

The crash happened at about 6:30 a.m. in the middle lane of westbound State Highway 114, near State Highway 121.

Police reports said that the crash happened when a Toyota Corolla became disabled along the highway. Moments later, the vehicle was rear-ended by a minivan. Then, two other cars collided in and around the initial crash site.

Officers with the Grapevine Police Department first responded to the car crash when it was still dark outside. It was not until Irving police officers arrived at sunrise that they could see blood on the road. Officers then found a woman's body under one of the cars involved in the crash.

"It appears that the vehicle that was stranded, the driver got out and was standing behind the vehicle," said Sgt. Steven LaDart of the Irving Police Department. "The person coming from behind didn't see the car until it was too late to avoid impact, and struck both the driver and the vehicle."

It does not appear as though any of the drivers involved in the crash will face charges, police added.
