Big Tex - From Icon To Gone

DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) - Friday's fire that destroyed Big Tex, the 60-year-old icon of the State Fair of Texas, quickly became international news.

Saturday saw more makeshift memorials put up for Big Tex, including a straw cowboy had filled with flowers and Fletcher's corny dogs.

Saturday also brought the news that State Fair sponsor Mattress Firm, who had already promised to donate a portion of their $10,000 proceeds to restoring Big Tex, had to cancel their world record attempt at mattress stacking in Big Tex Circle.  The company said they will also be accepting donations to help with the rebuild process at their fair booths.
