With the new wine grapes just beginning to bloom, prayers for this year's grape harvest is a tradition that dates back centuries.   The Blessing of the Vines and the New Vintage Wine and Gallery Trail kicks off this Saturday at the Delaney Vineyards in Grapevine.

"The blessing is an annual thing here in Grapevine and it's participated by all the wineries here" said Jerry Delaney of Delaney Vineyards.

Father Ken Robinson of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Muenster will continue the tradition he began years ago when he was at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Grapevine.

"After the blessing we will pour the wine on the vines for a better harvest and a bountiful harvest" Jerry added.

"Then there is a procession through the beautiful Delaney Vineyards and that begins at 11 am" said Leigh Lyons of the Grapevine Convention and Visitors Bureau.

JD Ryan is Around Town at the Delaney Vineyards in Grapevine.
